OPEN VISITING LECTURER POSITION AT SOUTHERN METHODIST UNIVERSITY

Position No. 00050366. The Department of Anthropology at Southern Methodist University, Dallas, Texas, invites applications for a visiting lecturer position in cultural anthropology.  The position is available for the 2023-2024 academic year, beginning in Fall 2023. Candidates should havedemonstrated pedagogical skill and experience, complement existing curricular and theoretical strengths in our department, and have PhD in hand by August 1, 2023. The teaching load for the visiting lecturer positions will be 4 courses in Fall 2023, and 4 in Spring 2024. Strong candidates will have the opportunity to teach undergraduate courses, including but not limited to:  Introduction to Cultural Anthropology and Self, Culture and Mind: Introduction to Psychological Anthropology. Candidate for the position should also be able to teach an undergraduate course with a regional specialization, as well as courses at the upper undergraduate and graduate levels such as Research Methods in Ethnology, History of Anthropology (post 1960); Culture, Power and Biomedicine, and Social Organization. Candidates should also detail which courses they can teach, at which level, in culturalanthropology in their cover letter.
