OPEN VISITING LECTURER POSITION AT SOUTHERN METHODIST UNIVERSITY

Position No. 00050366. The Department of Anthropology at Southern Methodist University, Dallas, Texas, invites applications for a visiting lecturer position in cultural anthropology.  The position is available for the 2023-2024 academic year, beginning in Fall 2023. Candidates should havedemonstrated pedagogical skill and experience, complement existing curricular and theoretical strengths in our department, and have PhD in hand by August 1, 2023. The teaching load for the visiting lecturer positions will be 4 courses in Fall 2023, and 4 in Spring 2024. Strong candidates will have the opportunity to teach undergraduate courses, including but not limited to:  Introduction to Cultural Anthropology and Self, Culture and Mind: Introduction to Psychological Anthropology. Candidate for the position should also be able to teach an undergraduate course with a regional specialization, as well as courses at the upper undergraduate and graduate levels such as Research Methods in Ethnology, History of Anthropology (post 1960); Culture, Power and Biomedicine, and Social Organization. Candidates should also detail which courses they can teach, at which level, in culturalanthropology in their cover letter.

Lecture Position (Renewable) in Medical Anthropology at SMU in Dallas, Texas

The Department of Anthropology invites nominations and applications for an opportunity to be involved in the shaping of innovative/rapidly growing/expanding/dynamic/evolving pedagogies/programs/interdisciplinary program/curriculum in Cultural Anthropology (Position Number: 00005771). Creative energy, intellectual strength, a broad-ranging repertoire and teaching interests are essential. We welcome candidates from all backgrounds. The candidate selected will be expected to be a significant partner in connecting the Department to an increasingly diverse and globally-connected community at the university and in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. 

Minimum qualifications: completed requirements for a doctoral or other terminal degree in Anthropology or related field by August 1, 2023; expertise to teach courses in medical and cultural anthropology and demonstrated potential as a teacher-scholar. 

Preferred qualifications: completed Ph.D.; experience teaching graduate or undergraduate courses in Anthropology as well as courses in any of the following areas: Medical Anthropology; interest in making significant contributions to graduate programs; research and/or creative scholarship which has led to publication, exhibition or dissemination in refereed journals, and/or national venues; experience mentoring culturally diverse students. Position begins August 1, 2023.

I’m excited to announce that the Department of Anthropology at the Washington University seeks two teaching-track lecturers in Medical Anthropology. Successful candidates will have teaching interests in Medical Anthropology and/or Global Health that complement current faculty. Duties will normally include teaching three courses per semester with additional service duties as assigned. Ability to teach a lower division survey of Medical Anthropology is required.


Qualifications

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Anthropology or a cognate discipline, and the degree must be in hand by time of appointment.
